The commission rate tells you how much you've earned. The payout terms tell you when and how you actually receive it. Here's what to look at.
Payout schedules
- Daily or instant: some brokers let IBs withdraw rebates daily. Good for cash flow, but check that the figures are final and not adjusted later.
- Weekly: a common middle ground for rebates.
- Monthly: common for revenue share and CPA, often paid in the first or second week of the following month.
CPA is often paid only after the qualification window closes, so it can arrive 30 to 60 days after the client signed up.
Payment methods
Commission may be paid to a bank account, an e-wallet, a card, a crypto wallet or a trading account in your name. Ask which methods are available in your country, and whether the method must match the one you used for verification.
Minimum thresholds and fees
- Many programs only pay once you pass a minimum, such as $50 or $100.
- Bank transfers can carry fees on both sides. Ask who pays them.
- If you're paid in a different currency from your own, conversion costs add up.
Statements
A good partner portal gives you a statement for each payout, showing clients, volume or revenue, the rate applied and any adjustments. Keep these: you'll need them to check payouts and for tax.
When payouts are delayed or reduced
Common reasons include incomplete IB verification, a client under fraud review, clawbacks and trades excluded by minimum duration rules. If a payout looks wrong, ask your partner manager for a client-level breakdown. See our IB agreement checklist for the clauses that control this.
Tax basics
IB commission is usually taxable income in the country where you live. Depending on your country and amounts, you may need to register as self-employed or a company, keep records and file returns. Brokers may ask for tax forms. This is general information, not tax advice: talk to a local accountant.
