Most new IBs start with an audience but no clients. Clients come from trust, and trust comes from being useful over time. There's no shortcut that works for long.
1. Pick a clear niche
"Forex for everyone" is hard to stand out in. A specific audience is easier: traders in one country or language, one style (swing trading, gold), or one group (working professionals, students learning the basics).
2. Teach before you refer
Share genuinely useful content: how leverage works, risk management, how to read an economic calendar, how to check a broker's licence. People who learn from you are more likely to trust your broker recommendation, and better-educated clients tend to stay longer.
3. Be honest about risk
Show losing trades as well as winning ones. Explain that most retail CFD accounts lose money (brokers publish the percentage). It feels counter-intuitive, but honesty builds the trust that keeps clients with you.
4. Choose a broker you'd use yourself
Your first clients will judge you by their experience. Open an account, deposit, trade and withdraw before you recommend a broker. See how to choose an IB program.
5. Make joining easy, and support people after
Create a short guide to opening the account with your link. After people join, answer their questions about the platform. Support is what makes an IB different from an affiliate link.
6. Build a small community
A Telegram, WhatsApp or Discord group where members discuss markets and learn together keeps people engaged. Keep it educational, moderate it properly and follow the rules on signals and advice in your country.
7. Ask for a starter package
Many brokers support new IBs with training, marketing material, landing pages or a higher CPA at the start. Ask your partner manager what's available.
Shortcuts that backfire
- Income promises such as "make $500 a week". They're misleading, and often illegal.
- Fake screenshots or reviews. One exposed fake can end your reputation.
- Spam in other people's groups or DMs.
- Bonus-chasing clients who leave as soon as the bonus is used.
- Ignoring marketing rules. See forex IB marketing rules.
Frequently asked questions
Can I become an IB with no clients?
Yes. Many brokers accept new IBs who have an audience. On IB2broker, new IBs get a Rising or Starter tier.
How long does it take to get clients?
It varies a lot, from weeks to many months, depending on your audience, niche and how much value you give. There's no reliable timeline.
